The BNHC Hair Styling Mini-Series: Review

Happy New Year!

All my weekends this month are booked, except this one, so we won't have our normal meet-and-greet, restaurant-style meetup. I promise to make up for it next month!

However, if you missed Catrina Foster in action at the last two classes she led, now's your time to catch her! She'll be reviewing techniques on how to part hair, how to see your whole head when self-styling, must-have tools for natural hair, and other general styling and maintenance tips.

You will need to have already mastered the skills she's showcasing if you want to attend the How To Flat Twist class next month, so be sure to come out if you missed her in the past.

The BNHC Holiday Gift Exchange

Hey Naturalistas!

It's time for our 2nd Annual Holiday Gift Exchange!

If you'd like to participate, please bring a wrapped hair accessory or hair care product in the $10-15 price range. If you can't wrap the gift, please place it in a gift bag. It's important that you can't look at it and see what it is.

The BNHC Fall Fashion Show

The first BNHC fashion show!

Boots, sweaters and layering make fall fashion my favorite, but it can be tricky. Learn to piece together basics that will take you from the office to a night out with the girls or that special someone!

The BNHC Hair Styling Mini-Series: Lesson 1, Parting Hair

Hey Naturalistas!

I'm super hyped to team up with Catrina Foster for a new BNHC mini-series on Natural Hair Styling Basics. If you attended the event last month, you saw that Catrina is an awesome teacher! She gave us great tips on products and accessories, and did a few basic styles. I'm happy to have her back!

The first lesson is in Parting Hair. Seems so basic right? But if you can't do it correctly, you're kind of screwed--and with super curly, thick, coily hair it can be a challenge.

Good parts are the first step to mastering flat twists, cornrows, even neat two strand twists. Come master the art of parting!

We'll meet at my place right after Saturday's meetup. Like last time, you may want to bring a small folding chair for seating.

The BNHC Fall Product Swap

Product Junkie? 

Hey Naturalistas!

For lots of you, the cooler weather means using different hair products. Before spending a fortune on new stuff, swap some old stuff!

Hair products that didn't work for you, hair accessories that didn't quite tame your mane...swap them out for something else.

The Details

When: Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2 pm

Where: Blue Agave; 1032 Light St, Baltimore, MD

The Rules:
1.) bring products at least half full or gently-used accessories

2.) know the value of your product (not necessarily what you paid, but what its worth in its current state). We'll group the products by price in the following categories: $1-5; $6-10; $11-15; $16-20; $20-24; $25+.

3.) For every item you bring, you can swap for another item (product or accessory) in that price range.

4.) The more the merrier! Bring as much as you want :)

Participation in the swap is completely optional! We'll also be eating and chatting as usual.

Please bring cash to cover your meal. The Blue Agave lunch menu, with prices, is here.
